SA SchoolCoding is a service provider to schools in South Africa (since 2013). We offer both learner and teacher training and continuous support. We teach digital skills (Coding, Robotics, and STEAM) to learners from Grade 1 - 9. Our motto: "We don't PLAY Games, we MAKE Games." Teaching digital skills (Coding, Robotics, and STEAM), children learn to solve problems, develop their critical thinking skills, and certain Maths and Language skills. These skills are not restricted to the computer class. We train the teachers at their school and provide lesson content and continuous support. The classes are offered in the schools' computer class (fitted with a computer/learner ratio of 1:1) During the March school holiday (2019), we also assisted the DBE with the draft coding and robotics curriculum. Our lessons have been adapted with this approach in mind. Our program can be offered at any school in South Africa with a computer lab and a teacher on-site whom we could train to offer our content. No previous coding experience required. At present, 9 schools make use of our program: - Laerskool de Tyger - Brackenfell Primary School - Welgemoed Primary School - Eversdal Primary School - Pinelands North Primary - Sweet Valley Primary - Rondebosch Boys Prep - Meridian Pinehurst (Private school) - Oude Molen Academy of Science and Technology Cost: Depending on school size, between R80 and R120, per child, per year.
